Mastering Makeup w/ PinkLux Recap + Freebie

Mastering Makeup w/ PinkLux Recap + Freebie

Heyyy Beautiful

Welcome to back to PinkLux!

As you know (mainly because the invite was posted everywhere, lol) last Sunday was the first edition of Mastering Makeup with PinkLux, which I must say went AMAZING! I learned two things from hosting this event: 1. Never be afraid ; 2. I found my purpose. After the event I promised to never be afraid to share the gift God has blessed me with to help others.

If you were unable to make it out no worries I will be doing it again next year (bigger and better), so make sure to join the tribe HERE to be the first to know and get your special discount!

This event was all about teaching the ladies how to properly apply your makeup for everyday. I understand the the everyday woman cannot afford a $65 dollar foundation or has a hour or two to do makeup every morning! (With practice it should NEVER take that long) At the end of the class the ladies were ready to practice on their faces. We covered the following key topics and much more:
  • Primer Recommendations for Oily, Dry, and Combination Skin
  • Foundation: How to Match and Apply
  • Brows: How to Fill and Colors for All Skin Tones
  • Concealer: Application and the Face-Lift Trick
  • Everyday Contouring and Highlighting
  • Blush: How To and How Not To Apply

Must Have Fall Shoes

Must Have Fall Shoes

Hey Beautiful PL's!!!

I hope you are having a great season thus far and ready to step up your shoe game! I have put together some of the hottest shoes of the season. They are an excellent choice for everyday but can also be worn dressed up or dressed down. You know I am all about having pieces that are easy to transition from season to season so some may have open toes.

Even though the fall season usually includes wearing black, brown, or grey adding a pop of red and/or pink is also a perfect way to spruce up your wardrobe.

I am loving the suede, fringe, quilted, polka dots and of course bow trends. A lady can never have too many pairs of shoes with bows, right???  I am also a HUGE lover of all things quilted so of course I had to throw in a pair of quilted tall riding boots. I love the extra lace up detail on the back, it gives them an extra touch of glam. Which are your favorites?

All shoes are under $50, yes including the tall black fringe boots! Awesome, I know!!

Shoes can be purchased HERE

What is your favorite style of shoe this season? Join the discussion on Facebook.

Presented By Sephora: PinkLux Meetup Recap

Presented By Sephora: PinkLux Meetup Recap

Hi Beautiful PL's!!!!!!

I completed a goal well two goals over the weekend! On October 11th PinkLux had its first official event! Yayyyyy I also snagged my first sponsorship with Sephora. I am still hyped about this past Sunday. It was so great to meet and speak with my supporters. You ladies really made me feel special.

This was not just a meet up it was also an evening of education. I taught a live tutorial on how to contour the nose. I showed some of my contouring tips and how to NOT achieve the MJ nose. The ladies loved it and best of all they came in not knowing they could contour their nose but left with knowledge on how to do it best!

I used cream and powder contour to show them how to make the look last all day, because who has time for touch ups?

5 Makeup Mistakes + How to Correct Them

5 Makeup Mistakes + How to Correct Them

Heyyy Ladies!

Ok, so I was going through some of my old pictures (teenage years) and thought OMG I made so many make-up mistakes! That is when I realized there are so many ladies still making the same mistakes and I cannot let my ladies go out looking like I did! But without error how can be grow!? Right? So below I am going to share 5 Make-Up Mistakes + How to Correct Them. No worries these are quick fixes that will help you look your best, I promise!

Too Rosy

Make-up Mistake: Wearing blush is a great product to add to the face so you don't appear washed out. However, it can also be nightmare and make you look like a clown if it is worn too heavy! The rule of thumb is if you are wearing bold eyeshadow or a bold lip wear a neutral blush color.

Correct Way: Apply blush to the side of the face or apples of your cheeks using circular motions. Also, apply lightly in the beginning then build to desired color. This will prevent you from applying too much product at once.

Clumpy Mascara

Make-up Mistake: We all want those long beautiful lashes that look like false lashes, however that can be a hard look to achieve if mascara is not applied. The mistake I made was I applied too much mascara- like 4-5 coats. My lashes always ended up looking like little spider legs that criss crossed- NOT a good look.

Correct Way: While applying mascara allow each coat to dry for 5-10 second before applying the next coat. Make sure to apply mascara on top and underneath the top lashes to separate evenly.
(PL Tip: Apply translucent powder with a clean wand to lengthen lashes before applying last coat.)

Incorrect Foundation Color

Make-up Mistake: When first learning about foundation I had NOOO clue what undertone to look for in the store. There are cool, neutral, and warm tones but in my mind this registered as x+y/ 3y x 6! Exactly, to complicated to answer in less than 3 minutes. But once I figured it out I learned some  great ways to get around finding the correct tone.

Correct Way: If you find yourself wearing the incorrect foundation color just bronze, contour, or highlight! I rather you purchase a foundation shade to light than a foundation shade to dark. You're probably thinking "WHAT a shade lighter"? Yes, because you can warm around the face with bronzer and would not need to highlight. **Make sure to blend all the way down to the collarbone to avoid the mask effect.**

Bleeding Eyeliner in Waterline

Make-Up Mistake: It is around 12 o'clock in the afternoon you look in the mirror and see your eyeliner looks like you have been crying. This is caused by the natural tears we create throughout the day or sweat. No worries there is a quick fix to have you looking flawless all day gorgeous!

Correct Way: Apply color desired liner to the water line or lower lash line. Using the same or similar shade of eyeshadow SET your eyeliner using a q-tip or eyeshadow brush. This will prevent it from running throughout the day.

Wings NOT Even

Make-Up Mistake: Wing eyeliner is very popular but creating an equal line on both eyes can be a challenge especially when you are rushing. Wing eyeliner is great to use to make your eyes appear bigger. If applied incorrectly wing liner can make your eyes appear lazy or smaller. For my beginners I advise you to use liquid liner, it applies quicker and easier than cream or clay formula liners.

Correct Way: Use a small strip of tape, the side of a credit card, or a piece of paper to draw the wing of your liner. This will ensure the lines are straight and equal on both eyes.

Ok, ladies please don't tell me I was the only one making mistakes! If you have any questions or concerns about your makeup don't miss the live course Mastering Makeup with PinkLux this Sunday October 18th @ Vestavia Hills Public Library. More information HERE.

Fall Favorites

Fall Favorites

Hi Ladies!!

Fall is here (Yay!!) which means cooler weather, layering up your favorite pieces, and rocking some of the seasons hottest fashion trends. H&M released some new items that I am totally in love with and wanted to share. They are also having a sale just in time for the new season. Make sure to use code 3181 for FREE shipping on your purchase until 11/4/2015.

Each season I like to look at all of my favorite stores to see if they are up on their trends and if they are having a great sale because who doesn't like to save some $$. H & M happens to be one of those favorite stores that never seem to disappoint me with being on top of the trends but also saving my bank account some zeros.

I am loving the plaid prints and fringe details this season. I love the cozy and chic garments the fall season tends to bring out from each designer. Below I pulled together my fall favorites on the H & M website. These items will be perfect for layering or worn alone. They can also easily transition into other seasons which I am all about because who likes to buy something for one season?

What are some of your favorite items or trends this season? Let me know below or join the discussion on FaceBook with the other PL's.
